Released in September 2002, “Jenny from the Block” became one of Jennifer Lopez’s most iconic songs and the lead single from This Is Me… Then. Featuring rappers Jadakiss and Styles P, this catchy R&B and old-school hip-hop anthem celebrates J.Lo’s Bronx roots and reminds the world that, despite her fame and success, she hasn’t forgotten where she came from. The song reached #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Canadian charts. Its unforgettable music video, directed by Francis Lawrence, featured J.Lo and then-fiancé Ben Affleck under the watchful eyes of paparazzi and surveillance cameras, reflecting the intense media attention surrounding their relationship. The track remains a signature J.Lo classic and even inspired “Hearts and Flowers” on her 2024 album This Is Me… Now.

L.O.X.
We off the block this year
Went from a little to a lot this year
Everybody mad at the rocks that I wear
I know where I’m goin’ and I know where I’m from
You hear LOX in your ear
Yea, we’re at the airport out decline from the block
