The music video for Jennifer Lopez’s “Ain’t It Funny” was directed by Herb Ritts and filmed entirely in sepia tones, giving it a warm, vintage-inspired aesthetic. The video opens with Lopez travelling along a road before encountering a fortune-teller who uses tarot cards to reveal a glimpse of her future. Shortly afterwards, a group of women welcomes her into their community and gives her a makeover, transforming her appearance to match their distinctive style. Among the women is Carmit Bachar, who would later become a member of the Pussycat Dolls. Lopez soon encounters a handsome man, played by Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui, and the two develop an irresistible romantic connection. The video features an extended dance sequence in which Lopez performs an energetic, flamenco-influenced routine, showcasing her dancing abilities against the rustic surroundings. As the story progresses, the other characters join in, culminating in a lively celebration in which Lopez, her lover, and the entire community dance together. The video premiered internationally during the week of July 2, 2001, before arriving in the United States later that year.
