Jennifer Lopez joined more than 20 music stars for “What’s Going On,” a charity cover released on October 30, 2001, by Artists Against AIDS Worldwide. Reimagining Marvin Gaye’s legendary 1971 classic, the collaboration featured an impressive lineup including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Mary J. Blige. Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bono, the single raised support for AIDS programs in Africa and other underserved regions, with proceeds also directed toward the American Red Cross’s September 11 fund. Released alongside eight remixes, the track achieved international chart success, reaching No. 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and bringing a powerful message of compassion and solidarity to audiences worldwide.

What’s Goin’ On [All Star Tribute] (Lyrics):
[Intro: Diddy & Jermaine Dupri]
What’s going on? (Tell me)
People dying (Yeah)
People crying (Uh-huh)
Lord, help us (C’mon)
[Verse 1: Bono, Gwen Stefani, Jermaine Dupri, Aaron Lewis, (Backstreet Boys)]
Mother, mother
There’s too many of you crying
Oh, brother, brother, brother
There’s far too many of you dying (That’s right)
You know we’ve got to find a way (Aah, ah, ah, ahh)
To bring some lovin’, lovin’ here today, yeah
