Released in 2002, “Alive” was written by Jennifer Lopez, Cris Judd, and Cory Rooney for her thriller Enough, in which J.Lo plays a woman fighting to escape an abusive marriage. Inspired by a melody Judd wrote on the piano during their honeymoon, Jennifer drew on both the film’s emotional journey and her own personal struggles to create this heartfelt, empowering ballad. Featured on J to tha L–O! The Remixes, the song showcased a more vulnerable side of J.Lo, reaching #2 on the US Dance Club Play chart. Its music video combines intimate scenes of Jennifer writing and recording the song with moments from Enough.

Lyrics
Alive (Lyrics):
Time goes slowly now in my life
Fear no more of what I’m not sure
Searching to feel your sole
The strength to stand alone
the power of not knowing and letting go
Chorus:
I guess I’ve found my way it’s simple when its right
Feel lucky just to be here tonight
and happy just be me and be alive.
