Inspired by the bestselling pregnancy guide of the same name, this ensemble romantic comedy follows several couples and individuals whose lives are transformed by the prospect of parenthood.
Jennifer Lopez plays Holly Castillo, a photographer who has long wanted to adopt a child with her husband, Alex. While Holly is excited by the possibility of becoming a mother, Alex is increasingly overwhelmed by the financial, emotional and practical responsibilities that adoption will bring. Their journey forces them to confront their expectations of family life and determine whether they are prepared for the changes ahead.
Around them, other expectant parents experience their own combinations of excitement, uncertainty and unexpected complications. A fitness expert discovers that pregnancy is far less predictable than she imagined, while another couple confronts the challenges of an unplanned pregnancy.
Meanwhile, two fathers-to-be develop an unlikely friendship as they attempt to prepare for the arrival of their children. Their experiences range from humorous misunderstandings to deeply personal moments of fear and vulnerability. As the different stories unfold, the characters learn that there is no single formula for becoming a good parent. Each family must negotiate its own circumstances, balancing career ambitions, relationships, physical changes and emotional needs.
Holly’s storyline highlights the importance of communication and mutual support, particularly when partners experience the transition to parenthood differently. Through interconnected narratives, the film celebrates the unpredictable journey of building a family and recognises that love, patience and adaptability are essential when expectations collide with reality.
