Jennifer Lopez returns as the voice of Shira in the fifth instalment of the Ice Age franchise. Shira, the confident sabre-toothed tiger who has become Manny’s son-in-law’s partner, is part of a familiar group of prehistoric animals whose lives are disrupted by a cosmic catastrophe.
When Scrat’s latest attempt to secure his beloved acorn accidentally triggers a chain of events in space, the consequences threaten the survival of the entire planet. As mysterious celestial forces send asteroids hurtling towards Earth, Manny, Ellie, Sid, Diego and their companions must leave the relative safety of their home and search for a way to prevent disaster.
Their journey introduces unusual characters, unexpected challenges and a series of comedic encounters that test the group’s ability to cooperate. Shira remains a capable and determined member of the ensemble, contributing her strength and loyalty as the friends confront dangers far beyond their usual experiences. At the same time, Manny and his family face changes in their relationships, as the approaching crisis encourages them to reflect on the importance of togetherness and the future of their community.
The film blends slapstick humour, colourful animation and adventurous storytelling, placing the familiar characters in a spectacular race against time. Through its emphasis on friendship, courage and cooperation, Ice Age: Collision Course continues the franchise’s tradition of combining prehistoric comedy with an affectionate portrayal of unconventional families facing extraordinary circumstances.
