Alex Gates is a wealthy wine merchant whose business is struggling under financial pressure. Faced with mounting debts and an increasingly unhappy marriage, he begins considering a dangerous plan to secure his future. With the help of a criminal associate, Alex becomes involved in a scheme to steal a valuable diamond necklace, believing the proceeds will solve his financial problems. His wife, Suzanne, is already frustrated by his dishonesty and lack of commitment, while their household is further complicated by the presence of Suzanne’s son, Jason.
Jennifer Lopez plays Gabriela, the family’s live-in maid, who becomes entangled in the unfolding conflict as the robbery plan develops. Her position within the household gives her insight into the relationships and tensions that shape the characters’ decisions. As the scheme progresses, trust begins to break down, and competing interests threaten to turn a calculated theft into a far more dangerous situation. Alex’s desperation leads him to make increasingly reckless choices, while those around him must decide how much they are willing to risk to protect themselves.
The film explores the corrosive effects of greed, betrayal and moral compromise, showing how financial ambition can destroy the relationships people depend on. With its atmosphere of suspicion and escalating danger, Blood and Wine presents a crime drama in which every character has something to lose and no one can be entirely certain whom to trust.
