Live by Jennifer Lopez was launched in 2005 as a fragrance inspired by energy, movement, confidence and the excitement of living in the moment. Its name communicates a more active and expressive attitude than the intimate, freshly showered concept behind Glow, placing the perfume within a different aspect of Lopez’s personal brand.
The composition belongs to the floral fruity family and was created by perfumer Dominique Ropion. Pineapple, Sicilian lemon and Italian orange form the opening, giving the scent a bright, lively combination of tropical fruit and citrus. Red currant blossom, peony and violet make up the heart, introducing a feminine floral character that softens the fruitiness. The base features caramel, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean, creating a sweet, creamy and woody finish.
This contrast between sparkling fruit and a warmer base gives Live a playful personality without losing its polished fragrance structure. The perfume also belongs to the mid-2000s phase of Lopez’s fragrance career, when she was building a diverse collection of scents to suit different moods and occasions.
Live was followed by Live Luxe, which continued the name with a different composition and a more luxurious interpretation. Together, the two releases demonstrate how a single concept could be developed into distinct fragrances within Lopez’s expanding perfume range.
