That’s the Way Love Goes (Janet Jackson)

Jennifer Lopez appears as a backing dancer in Janet Jackson’s “That’s the Way Love Goes” music video, directed by René Elizondo Jr. in March 1993. Set in a relaxed loft environment, the video features Jackson spending time with friends and dancers before playing her new single. As the music fills the room, the group breaks into choreography, with Jackson occasionally pausing to joke and interact with the dancers. Choreographed by Tina Landon, the video also features a young Lopez, who appears among the dancers and delivers a spoken line during the opening dialogue. Jackson would later become one of Lopez’s major inspirations, with Lopez crediting her music videos and distinctive performance style as an influence on her own career in entertainment.
