Lila Walcott is a grieving mother whose life is shattered when her son is killed in a shooting. Struggling to cope with her loss, she attends a support group for parents who have experienced similar tragedies.
There, she meets Eve Rafael, another mother whose confidence and determination contrast with Lila’s emotional vulnerability. When Lila becomes increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in the investigation into her son’s death, Eve encourages her to take a more active role in pursuing justice. The two women begin investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, determined to identify the people responsible and obtain answers that the authorities have failed to provide.
Their search draws them into a dangerous world of violence, intimidation and moral uncertainty. As Lila grows more deeply involved, her grief transforms into anger, and her desire for justice threatens to consume her life. Eve’s influence encourages her to act with a determination she never knew she possessed, but their methods increasingly blur the distinction between seeking accountability and pursuing revenge.
The emotional bond between the women becomes central to the story as Lila attempts to reconcile her need for answers with the consequences of the path she has chosen. The film examines the devastating effects of violent crime on families and the difficulty of finding closure when the justice system seems unable to offer it.
With its tense atmosphere and focus on maternal grief, Lila & Eve explores how loss can alter a person’s sense of identity and how the desire to protect the memory of a loved one can lead to morally complicated decisions.
