In Ice Age: Continental Drift, Jennifer Lopez voices Shira, a formidable sabre-toothed tiger who becomes an important figure in Diego’s story. The adventure begins when Scrat’s relentless pursuit of his acorn triggers a catastrophic shift in the Earth’s geography, separating Manny, Diego and Sid from their families. Swept onto drifting ice, the friends find themselves stranded far from home and forced to navigate unfamiliar waters.
Their journey brings them into conflict with a group of pirates led by the ruthless Captain Gutt, who commands a dangerous crew and intends to use the newcomers for his own purposes. Among the pirates is Shira, a fierce and independent tiger whose loyalties become complicated as she encounters Diego. Initially serving Gutt, Shira gradually questions her place within the crew and begins reconsidering her assumptions about friendship and trust.
As the conflict intensifies, Diego recognises that Shira’s behaviour may conceal a more vulnerable side, and their developing connection becomes an important part of the adventure. Meanwhile, Manny remains determined to reunite with his wife and daughter, while Sid and the others contribute their own brand of humour to the group’s efforts to survive.
The film combines animated action, comic set pieces and themes of family separation, loyalty and personal change. Shira’s journey highlights the possibility of choosing a new direction even after years of following the wrong leader, while the larger story celebrates the bonds that keep the prehistoric herd together.
