The music video for “Same Girl” by Jennifer Lopez was filmed in the Castle Hill neighbourhood of the Bronx, New York, her hometown, over the weekend of December 28, 2013. Directed by Steve Gomillion and Dennis Leupold, the video takes a spontaneous, guerrilla-style approach, celebrating Lopez’s roots and reconnecting her with the community where she grew up. It follows the singer as she rides the subway, walks through familiar streets, greets local residents, takes photographs with fans and dances alongside people from her neighbourhood. Other scenes show her performing on a rooftop and visiting local markets, dance clubs and other locations that reflect the diversity and energy of the South Bronx. Dressed casually in jeans, a black jacket and a New York Yankees cap, Lopez embraces a more natural, down-to-earth look that contrasts with her usual glamorous music-video persona. The video also features members of the local community, highlighting the people and places that helped shape her identity. Described as a heartfelt tribute to her hometown, the clip reinforces the song’s message that despite her international success, Lopez remains connected to her beginnings. It concludes with a personal message thanking the Andrew Freedman House, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra and the people of the Bronx, whom she assures will always hold a special place in her heart. The music video premiered on January 30, 2014.
