The music video for Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor,” featuring Pitbull, was filmed on January 22–23, 2011, and directed by TAJ Stansberry, with Frank Gatson serving as choreographer. Inspired by the atmosphere of an underground Los Angeles nightclub after 2 a.m., the video celebrates club culture, individuality, and the freedom of dancing without inhibition. Lopez held an open casting call to find dancers who embodied the spirit of people who go out simply to enjoy the music and dance all night. In the video, she portrays several different characters, including a glamorous woman who appears to be in control of the party while remaining captivated by its wild, underground energy. The visuals combine elaborate dance sequences, distinctive costumes, and a vibrant nightclub setting, with Lopez moving between a silver lace catsuit and harem-style trousers. The production also features product placements, including BMW and Swarovski. The video premiered simultaneously on American Idol and Vevo on March 3, 2011, with fans given the opportunity to vote online for their preferred ending. Three alternatives were presented: a close-up of Lopez in her silver catsuit, dancers appearing to defy gravity on the walls and ceiling, and Lopez dancing in her harem pants. The close-up ending was ultimately selected for the official version, completing a video that captures the song’s energetic celebration of music, nightlife, and letting loose on the dance floor.
