The music video for Jennifer Lopez’s “Get Right” was directed by Francis Lawrence and filmed in November 2004. Inspired by the concept of Robert Altman’s film Short Cuts (1993), the video follows multiple characters whose stories unfold simultaneously inside a nightclub over the course of a single song, with Lopez at the centre of the action. Using several versions of Lopez, the video sees her portray a variety of roles, including a DJ, a glamorous diva relaxing in the VIP section, a bartender, and different clubgoers enjoying a night out with friends. Each character brings a distinct personality to the nightclub setting, creating a lively and interconnected portrait of nightlife. The video is driven by energetic choreography created in collaboration with the Talauega Brothers, with Lopez showcasing her dancing skills across the different scenes. Its colourful club atmosphere, inventive use of multiple characters, and fast-paced editing give the video a distinctive cinematic style. Comedian Ellen DeGeneres also made a playful visit to the set, joining Lopez and her dancers for a humorous dance session. The video went on to receive widespread airplay and earned four nominations at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, including Best Dance Video, Best Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Editing.
