Released in 2005 as a single from her fourth studio album, Rebirth, “Hold You Down” brought Jennifer Lopez back together with longtime collaborator Fat Joe for a smooth, soulful R&B track. Built around a sample of Shirley Murdock’s 1986 song “As We Lay,” the song marked their third collaboration, following “Feelin’ So Good” and the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” remix. While it reached #6 on the UK Singles Chart and made the top 40 in several other countries, it had a more modest run in the US, peaking at #64 on the Billboard Hot 100. Even so, it remains a memorable J.Lo and Fat Joe team-up.

Lyrics
Hold You Down [Featuring Fat Joe] (Lyrics):
[Verse 1]
[Jennifer:]
Now you’ve been holding me down
For such a long time now
From back then
To now in my story
Straight from the hood
You’ve always been there for me
And ya had my back
(When they) Back when everybody said
I wasn’t anything
